Ethiopian Queen City Harrar – Single Origin

Some coffees carry a legacy so deep it feels alive in every sip. Ethiopian Harrar – Queen City is one of those coffees—a remarkable heirloom brought to life through generations of family stewardship and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

This extraordinary lot was developed in partnership with our Harrar supplier, Mr. Abdirashid Abdullahi, nephew of the late Mohamed Abdullah Ogsadey, the legendary exporter behind the famed MAO Horse brand. Together, they’ve continued the family tradition of producing Harrar coffees that are not only distinctive but among the most sought-after in the world.

What makes Queen City so exceptional? It begins long before the roast—at the collection and sorting stages. While most exporters buy mixed grades from East and West Harrar and perform minimal cleaning, Queen City takes a far more rigorous path. These beans are selected from top lots at the ECX auction and then undergo intensive sorting and defect screening, ensuring only the cleanest, highest-quality cherries make the cut. The result is a preparation standard that far surpasses traditional Grade 4 Harrars, producing a cup that’s consistently sweet, clean, and full of life.

Roasted to a Light/Medium profile, this coffee opens with Harrar’s signature burst of blueberry and red wine, balanced by soft chocolate undertones and a velvety mouthfeel. It’s complex yet approachable, wild yet elegant—a beautiful expression of Ethiopia’s storied coffee heritage.

And, true to our promise, we roast your Ethiopian Harrar – Queen City only after you order and ship it within 24 hours, so its fruit-forward brilliance and aromatic intensity reach you as fresh as the day it’s roasted.

Disappointed again

"Roasted to a Light/Medium profile, this coffee opens with Harrar’s signature burst of blueberry and red wine, balanced by soft chocolate undertones and a velvety mouthfeel."
While this darkly roasted coffee is flavorful, it is not as described above. It has been over roasted beyond the light, or even, medium stage and the flavor profile of this intriguing single-origin coffee has been lost.

So Good!

Really good bouquet and flavor. No acidity. I'll buy this again.

Just Meh

Just meh. Likely over roasted since it lost all of its berry notes and brewed just like a toffee forward espresso. Will not order again.
